Travel to MUN Green Chemistry Group

The Green Chemistry and Catalysis Group is located in the Chemistry and Physics Building on the main campus of Memorial University in St. John’s, Newfoundland. The weather in St. John’s is very changeable, have a look at our local TV station’s webcams for an idea of today’s weather or visit the weathernetwork.com.

• Our main research laboratories are  located on the 3rd floor of the CSF (Core Science Facility)
• The student office is CSF 3303.
• Dr. Kerton’s office is CSF 3342.
• Dr. Kozak’s office is CSF 3341.
• The chemistry departmental office is on the 2nd floor of the CSF (Messages can be left here if you cannot find a member of the group).
• Any deliveries should be made to the ground floor of the CSF (Science Shipping and Receiving / Stores).

• Getting here by Air

Air Canada provides non-stop flights from St. John’s to: Calgary, Gander, Halifax, Montreal, Ottawa, Toronto and Vancouver within Canada, and connections internationally at Halifax, Montreal or Toronto.

Porter airlines flies to St. John’s from several eastern Canada locations. We frequently use them to get to Halifax and Ottawa (and Montreal and Toronto). They often have seat-sales.

If a direct flight is not possible, international connections can be made in Toronto, Montreal, Vancouver, Halifax, or Newark/New York which do have direct connections to St. John’s. Most flights from Africa or the Middle-East will be routed through London (UK), and flights from China will be routed through Vancouver.

Within the province, flights are available through Air Labrador and Provincial Airlines.

Charter airlines, e.g. Sunwing airlines, Air Transat, also serve YYT and often discounted flights to holiday destinations such as the Dominican Republic or Florida can be obtained.

Ferries to Argentia from North Sydney (NS) run from June to September. Argentia is less than 2 hours drive from St. John’s.

All the usual car rental companies have offices in St. John’s : Budget, Avis, National, Hertz and Thrifty

St. John’s is a fairly small city and the downtown area can be easily navigated on foot. Metrobus (see link above) offer a reliable service and there are also plentiful, reasonable priced taxis.
